CHOKED is Community Health Opposition to Known Emissions Dangers.

We're CHOKED about air pollution.

And we aren't the only ones. The Canadian Medical Association says,

"The CMA has released 'staggering' new data which predict that air pollution will claim the lives of 21,000 Canadians this year, including more than 2,500 who will die because of acute, short-term exposure."

CHOKED is a member group of the BC Environmental Network, an affiliate of the Canadian Environmental Network. So through RCEN we participate in various federal initiatives around airborne toxics, notably in the Chemicals Management Plan and the Regulatory Framework for Air Emissions.

We were involved in the CCME's Canada Wide Standards setting exercise for Particulate Matter and Ozone, but this turned out to be a toothless standard and is now apparently moribund.
